2012 DOOMSDAY - END OF THE WORLD - MAYAN CALENDER

the long awaited LAST YEAR has started , whole world is going GAGA about the so called gimmick of DOOMS DAY. so lets find out what really prompted the whole world to believe that 2012 is the LAST YEAR in the human History.
it all started with the MAYAN calender.

The Maya didn't predict the end of the world (their calendar simply reaches the end of a cycle). They had specific names for periods of time in the millions of years;

The Theory

When they were a flourishing race, the Mayans developed 15 to 20 calendars, all with different purposes. Most of these have been exact. For example, the Tzolk’in was used to calculate crop cultivation, the Haab followed the cycles of the Sun and the Long Count--most relevant to the Doomsday prophecy--is the one that is ticking off our final days!

This is the Mayan Temple of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza. The Temple of Kukulcan is said to be a physical embodiment of the Mayan Calendar. For instance, in this pyramid there are 91 steps on each of the four sides (totaling 364) plus the top platform giving us 365 to match the days of a solar year. More intricate representations of time and distance exist within the construction of this pyramid. Chichen Itza is a Mayan ruin site located in southern Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, near Cancun. Occupied during the Terminal, Late, and Post Classic periods of the Maya empire (roughly 800-1500 AD) Chichen Itza rose to prominence.

The Bible or any other holy book makes no date-specific predictions at all.

Earth is not going to get hit by a giant planet (if it were, we would have seen it by now, and its gravity would be affecting the orbits of everything else in the solar system). No known comets or asteroids are going to hit us, either.

The sun will not line up with the center of the Milky Way (it can't; the center of the galaxy is in the wrong part of the sky).

The planets are not going to align (it's physically impossible; and even if they could, their combined gravity wouldn't be enough to disrupt anything on earth).

The earth's poles will not abruptly reverse (the geographic poles can't; the magnetic poles can, but it takes thousands of years).

The sun will not flare up and poison the earth (it goes through regular 11-year cycles of solar flare activity, and 2012 is just another peak).

CALCULATION of MAYAN's
The Mayans developed their calendar based on their advanced knowledge of the cosmos and mathematics. To this day, their calendar can predict every lunar eclipse with 30 seconds or so. On the day their calendar ends, the Earth and Sun are aligned with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, an event that only occurs once every 26,000 years. Also on that day, we go into what's called the precession of the equinoxes, also an event that occurs once every 26,000 years.

2012 Possibilities

From Earth
  • Magnetic Pole Shift
  • Crustal Pole Shift
  • Supervolcano - ie Yellowstone
  • Ice Age
  • Global Warming

Conclusion

All in all, it seems the only thing anyone has is a bunch of tall, baseless claims. There’s only one way to find out what’s really going to happen, and that’s to live through the fateful day itself! Until then, however, if anyone brings up the 2012 doomsday theory, you're now armed with a rebuttal!
